The History of the Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler has use the Pacifica name for a variety of its models, which technically dates this vehicle back to 1999 when the Pacifica was used on a luxury minivan concept. In 2004, Chrysler decided to use the Pacifica name on its first crossover SUV. This crossover was equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and was available as either front or all-wheel drive. With this engine configuration, the 2004 Pacifica was aiming to position itself as the luxury alternative to the minivan. Chrysler even piled on the standard features with 17-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, dual-zone climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel to further enforce this concept.

The Touring and Limited trim levels were introduced in 2005 when third row seating was removed from the base model. In 2006, the Pacifica got a new 200-horsepower 3.8-liter V-6 engine while the very next year it was upgraded to a 4.0-liter V-6 generating 255 horsepower. Side curtain airbags and electronic stability control became standard on all Pacificas in 2007. 2008 was the last production year of the Pacific crossover, which brings us to the current model. The current Chrysler Pacifica is a minivan that made its debut in 2017 as the Town & Country’s replacement.
